How To Fight Gout?

Gout is a very painful problem which can make its sufferer feel totally disable during attacks. Because of this reason it is said that the Gout should not be taken lightly. Mostly the gout pain begins at night all of a sudden. Often the discomfort is so strong that even the weight of the sheet seems hard to bear. It is not just the pain which the patient has to bear during attack but attack also causes stiffness in the joint and make the patient difficult to move.

The causes of Gout include alcohol consumption, excess weight, erratic lifestyle, sudden illness. However, gout is mainly caused because of hyperuricemia which implies too much uric acid in the blood stream. One reason for the presence of excessive uric acid in the body can be kidneys which are not healthy enough to filter acid out. Other reason can be body producing excessive acids. In most cases, it is the kidney that is the main cause for Gout. Some other reasons for Gout are hypertension, kidney diseases, insulin resistance etc.

Gout can be treated naturally, with herbs or with therapies. These therapies help in reducing Gout attack's frequency to large extent. One way for natural gout remedies is to take food high in ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid acts like a natural anti-inflammatory. Also, cherries are natural treatment for gout. Another way to get relief from gout is to put frozen cabbage on the affected joints.

Gout patients usually use relief medications to get instant relief from pain attack. You can find several medicines in the market that helps in reducing pain and also redness in the affected joints. Also, you can find medicines which help in reducing levels of uric acids in long term and therefore, prevent further gout attacks.

But unfortunately, these medicines have severe side effects such as stomach ulcers, nausea, skin reaction etc. So, before you take any drug, make sure you know its side effects.

It is important for the patient to realize that diet plays a major role in gout pain treatment. The food rich in purines is strict no-no for gout patients as it is a major cause for higher uric acid levels in the body.

Consuming abundant amount of water helps in reducing uric acid levels in the body. You can reduce uric acid by avoiding intake of food that increases urate levels and taking food which neutralize urate levels.
